Mississippi is an “at-will” employment state. This means that an employer can legally terminate an employee, with or without a cause on a non-discriminatory basis.
Despite the state’s “at-will” law, there are some instances where an employer may present an employee with an employment or severance agreement for consideration. These agreements may contain non-compete and confidentiality provisions, among other provisions, as well as monetary considerations.
